During 2016, SynDermix AG, the Swiss life science company specialising in lectins derived from red kidney beans (Phaseolus vulgaris), began pursuing the development of a recombinant form of phytohaemagglutinin (PHA) with a view to using it in various therapeutic indications.

T-Mero-Protect®, a natural, purified extract of the red kidney bean, is a key ingredient of Énielle® Skin Cell Senescence Antidote N°1, the proprietary cosmetic product of Énielle AG, which has been formulated as a facial serum. The serum also contains other carefully selected active ingredients, chosen to achieve a coactive effect with the red kidney bean extract. T-Mero-Protect® consists of two subunits of Phytohemagglutinin, the PHA-E (erythroagglutinin) and the PHA-L (leucoagglutinin), that have been isolated from red kidney beans and purified by affinity chromatography. It is extracted exclusively for Énielle AG, according to a standardised process that is a well-kept trade secret, and ensures consistency in the production and quality of the extract – in strict conformity with the specifications set in the Certificate of Analysis.
